A Girl & Her Horse

This late summer photoshoot took place down a long dusty farm lane in the heart of southeastern Pennsylvania. Stephanie & Kyle Photography and I collaborated on this one with local flowers hailing from Cool Hollow Farms in Hagerstown, Maryland. Even our beautiful model Becka and her ponies are local girls!

Flowering a horse was a first for me and I hope not the last. The idea came to me last-minute when I spotted some wild, rambling autumn clematis growing over a fence near the barn. This sweet pony was so patient while I attached the clematis vines to her reins. Becka's bouquet was filled with Queen Lime and Oklahoma Salmon zinnias, celosia, abelia, Cafe au Lait dahlias, lisianthus, cosmos, sedum, podacarpus, seeded and baby blue eucalyptus, then all tied up with hand-dyed ribbons from Honey Silks Co. Her flower crown also featured strawflower and lisianthus buds.
